Bepanthen Ointment supports skin repair after a PMU treatment. Do not use the Bepanthen Aftercare Ointment directly on open skin. After the skin is closed, apply a thin layer of Bepanthen Aftercare Ointment by massaging gently until the ointment is fully absorbed. Repeat this 2-4 times a day, about 10-15 days for the best result. Bepanthen Aftercare Ointment protects and quickly restores tattooed/treated skin.
The ointment supports the skin's natural recovery process, thanks to panthenol 5% (pro-vitamin B5).
Bepanthen Ointment contains a high concentration of fats (65% lipids), which will leave a protected layer on the skin without closing it off. The ointment also contains dexpanthenol (5%), which supports the skin's natural recovery.
Characteristics of Bepanthen Aftercare Ointment:
- Cares, soothes and refreshes
- Supports natural skin repair
- Lubricates easily, retracts quickly
- Without perfume, dyes, preservatives and parabens
Why an ointment as opposed to a cream?
A cream consists mainly of water to which fat has been added. An oil-in-water (O/W emulsion) contains very small oil droplets in water. Usually, an O/W emulsion consists of more than 70% water, which causes the upper horny layer of the skin to expand and moisture to evaporate. O/W emulsions have a cooling effect and leave a thin layer of fat on the skin.
An ointment consists mainly of oil to which water has been added (W/O emulsion). A water-in-oil (W/O emulsion) contains very small drops of water in oil. Usually the proportion of water in W/O emulsions is less than 70%. By applying a W/O emulsion, a layer of fat is created on the skin.
Aftercare advice from Bepanthen
The LCHV guidelines* state that an aftercare product must contain a high percentage of fat. Bepanthen Ointment contains 70% fat. Bepanthen Ointment is a 'fat' ointment that lays a protective layer on the skin. This is important for the aftercare and care of permanent make-up and tattoos so that the skin is protected against external influences. Creams contain more water and do not lay a layer. That is why Bepanthen recommends the Aftercare Ointment instead of the Cream.
